The negative footprint illusion in environmental impact estimates: methodological considerations

SUMMARY

    This phenomenon has been coined the ‘negative footprint illusion` (see Sörqvist et_al, 2020, for a review). It does not seem to matter much whether the estimates concern food (Gorissen and Weijters, 2016; Kusch and Fiebelkorn, 2019; but see Threadgold et_al, 2022), vehicles (Kim and Schuldt, 2018), or buildings (Holmgren et_al, 2018a).
