- what: The authors report the crystal structure of the NEC from Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) a prototypical gammaherpesvirus. Putting together these the authors propose that EBV NECmediated budding is driven by oligomerization into membrane-bound coats. EBV, the focus of this work, causes infectious mononucleosis in adolescents and is associated with several hematopoietic and epithelial_cell cancers and lymphoproliferative disorders . . .
