The putative chemoreceptor families of c. elegans

HIGHLIGHTS

  • who: C. elegans and colleagues from the University of Urbana, IL , USA have published the research: The putative chemoreceptor families of C. elegans, in the Journal: (JOURNAL)

SUMMARY

Genetic analysis of sensory-neuron specific G proteins indicates that olfaction, nociception, and pheromone responses are mediated predominantly by GPCRs (e_g, Hilliard et_al, 2004; Jansen et_al, 1999; Jansen et_al, 2002; Roayaie et_al, 1998) and it is difficult to see what else these huge families might generally mediate. Rampant gain and loss of introns was inferred from phylogenetic analysis and has been confirmed by 3 genome . . .
