SUMMARY
The authors present two different routes for the synthesis of the perfluorinated trityl cation, which allowed the handling of the free, uncoordinated species in organic solvents for the first time. A theoretical study by Dutton et_a on the Lewis acidity of the perfluorinated trityl cation in terms of calculated ion affinities towards small Lewis bases showed a strong increase of the Lewis acidity compared to its nonfluorinated analogue . . .
