    TOX (thymocyte selection-associated HMG BOX), a transcription factor, belongs to the high mobility group box (HMG-box) superfamily. In 2002, Wilkinson et_al demonstrated for the first time that TOX plays an important role in the differentiation of CD4 + CD8+ double-positive thymocytes by gene microarray technology.
