SUMMARY
Studies have demonstrated a microbial diversity gradient between the soil, the rhizosphere (the region of soil immediately surrounding the roots) and the root endosphere (inner root tissues), with less diverse microbiomes thriving inside roots compared to the rhizosphere and soil (Pascale et_al, 2020; Trivedi et_al, 2020).
