Biodiversity is not evenly distributed on Earth. The subsequent four temperate belts from 15◦ S to 35◦ S have comparatively smaller numbers of genera (44, 48, 51, and 39, respectively), especially in correspondence with the Namib and Kalahari deserts (15-25◦ S).
