Urban water and management in sustainable cities

HIGHLIGHTS

  • What: The aim of this study is to examine the existing relationship between cities and water resources and to develop improvement measures by identifying deficiencies, if any. To the fact that the conversion of salt water into potable/drinking water is an expensive process, the uneven development of freshwater resources, population, and economic activities in the world are the main reasons for the increasing competitive pressure on water (Gunaydın, 2009). The sustainable city approach aims to balance economic growth, environmental protection, and social welfare.
