SUMMARY

    Although not included in the World Health Organization (WHO) list of potential risk factors for osteoporosis, antipsychotic medication use has been previously related to lower BMD. While the majority of extant studies investigating the impact of antipsychotics on BMD are in patients with schizophrenia, other studies have explored the impact of antipsychotics on BMD in other patients groups such as those with bipolar disorder and autism.
