HIGHLIGHTS

  • What: The aim was to identify the most frequently recorded complaint in general practice for children under 5 years old. For this study, frequent attendees were defined as those within the top 20% to maintain power of the study. Currently, the limited formal training that some GPs receive occurs via hospital placements within paediatric departments; as this study has identified, the majority of paediatric complaints within primary care are minor, self-­limiting conditions and so are unlikely to be managed within secondary care .
