HIGHLIGHTS
- What: This study investigates factors associated with population health survey respondents` willingness to provide biological samples and personal health information. Linking population surveys to PHI expands the utility of valuable, existing data that were not originally collected for research purposes . This study shows that requests for blood samples, saliva samples, and direct linkage with health insurance database requests are problematic, as only a small proportion of respondents were willing to provide such information. The question order effects observed in this study have important implications for population health survey design.
