- what: Using mice with a hepatocyte-specific Lkb1 deficiency, the authors characterize a new role of Lkb1 in the control of hepatic amino_acid catabolism, identifying Lkb1 as a suppressor of gluconeogenesis from amino_acids. The authors show that, in addition to its known effects on hepatic gluconeogenesis, the loss of hepatic Lkb1 increases the uptake and catabolism of amino_acids in the liver . . .
