The article presents a safety measure that has been overlooked in the literature but could be highly effective and feasible: bringing a close person to the psychedelic session. This paper shows that psychedelics impair autonomy in three ways: they reduce the decisionmaking capacity, place the authors in an uncontrollable state of high uncertainty, and make the authors more susceptible to outside influence and guidance.
