Optimization of agv sorting systems in pharmaceutical distribution: a two-stage package assignment and simulation approach

  • What: The overall objective of this optimization problem is to minimize the cycle time of delivering all the requested packages (i.e., orders) by the AGVs. Given the NP-hard nature of this optimization problem, the authors propose different assignment rules that are subsequently implemented in the simulation framework. A sensitivity analysis is conducted to determine the optimal number of AGVs required to achieve peak system performance under each heuristic strategy. By integrating these strategies and system components, the authors aim to provide a comprehensive methodology for optimizing the performance of AGV sorting systems, Fig 3 Research . . .
