In a deliberate attempt to focus on these less common subtypes, this study excluded the more prevalent subtypes: SCA1, SCA2, SCA3, SCA6, SCA8 and SCA17, which were reported previously . The authors report three unrelated white female individuals. The authors report two male and one female patients of Indian descent with SCA12, which is prevalent in this demographic, accounting for about 6.5% of SCAs .
